


TALKING ABOUT THE PIECES WITH MIKE BYRNE
After you have spent time looking at the pieces in the Captain's Room, please join us in the Hunt Museum Cafe to talk about the experience with Mike Byrne.
Mike is co-founder of the ICCC and will be hosting an informal discussion about the pieces. This is an integral part of the Slow Art Day experience and an opportunity to find out more about the pieces on display, the artists, and materials.
Mike Byrne graduated in Ceramic Design from Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) Ireland, in 1977. From 1980 to 1990 worked In Kilkenny Design Workshops and as a freelance designer with clients including Belleek Pottery and Wade Porcelain. Since 1990 he has been a practicing artist, exhibiting both nationally and internationally as a ceramist and printmaker. He was awarded an MA in fine Art Printmaking in 2001. His work features in a number of national collections including the Ulster Museum, AIB bank, University of Limerick and the OPW. Mike was Course leader of the Ceramic Design Course at LSAD from 2009 to 2015. He is also co-founder with Mandy Parslow of The Irish Contemporary Ceramics Collection.
